PCR successfully completed the controlled demolition of two 100m high reinforced concrete chimneys.
PCR have recently carried out the piece meal demolition of two 100m high reinforced concrete chimneys using a innovative access system; due to the complex nature of this contract, our inventive approach allowed for site operations to be executed in a safe and productive manner to the clients satisfaction. A purpose made and designed hoist system enabled the full circumferance of the outer chimney shell to be covered. In addition, the complex design of the chinmey such as the tapered profile created an obstacle whereby a standard hoist system would be ineffective. An over head trolly system capable of reaching the full circumferance was adapted to the hoist, from this a BROKK hydraulic cutting/crunching device was used to progressively bring down the structure within the stated contract period.
