A monumental project for PCR is nearing the end date. After close to two years, the final hanger was installed and tensioned yesterday.
We have been working for Optimise on the NOS Bridges Refurbishment Package for close to two years, and today marked a monumental moment. Of 144 hangers that needed to be replaced on Channelsea Bridge, the final one was loaded and tensioned today; the hangers support three sewer barrels on the underside of the bridge. As the structure was built in the Victorian Era and had not been touched since, the hanger replacement works were of grave importance and required advanced structural engineering solutions to ensure this was done safely and effectively.
Managing Director, Peter Richardson said, ‘We have all worked extremely hard and the collaboration between ourselves and the Optimise team has been the best i've ever seen in my 40+ years working in this industry. I am very pleased and proud of the way my team have worked and progressed indivdually; their attitude to health and safety behaviour on site has been incredible. Well done!’
