P C Richardson & Co (M’bro) Ltd (PCR) owes its inception to the current Managing Director's grandfather Mr Percy Charles Richardson establishing a company in 1918 to build chimneys. This long tradition has been carried through our company into its third generation and the range of services we offer has expanded considerably in this key area.
Working chimneys require regular maintenance and our history in repair and renovation for difficult access structures continues today with a multi disciplined workforce fully trained in up to the minute access techniques and the ability of offer our clients cost effective solutions.
PCR are proud to be one of the few remaining UK companies who retain the skill and ability to design and then build an industrial chimney fully in house. We are able to utilise concrete, brick, GRP and steel materials to construct a chimney to a clients requirements.
Quick turnaround for chimney construction have lead PCR to innovate and develop in house methods for concrete chimneys using the slip form method and / or jump shuttering which can reduce the overall build time for a chimney by up to 40%, also reducing the costs of construction. Concrete chimneys constructed in this manner are suitable for most effluent conditions.
Innovation in chimneys by PCR is also extended into repair, often the external chimney may require repairing / inspecting however due to gas emisions form a chimney which generally requires a chimney to be shut down to allow external / inspection / repair – this can be a major cost for the client. PCR have developed an in house methodology using a By-pass shield which is placed within the capping level of a chimney and prevents chimney emissions thus allowing inspection / repair of the external substrate.
