NOS Bridges

Within the UK, Victorian bridges, such as the Northern Outfall Sewer Bridge, are prone to deterioration given their age. Techniques to repair and strengthen include bearing replacement or refurbishment, web stiffener strengthening, top and bottom flange repairs with over-plating and installation of TCB’s.

We have been actively involved in the refurbishment of various Victorian built bridges throughout London for the past 5 years on behalf of Thames Water.

Activities include the replacement of sewer barrels from cast iron to reinforced concrete, replacement of cast iron sewer barrel hangers achieved by installing bespoke, temporary cross beams and hangers. In addition, we carry out required strengthening works including web stiffener replacement or repair and flange over plating.

Examples of access methods include slung scaffolding and barge pontoon scaffold structures.
